Steven Lancaster was the pseudonym my father chose for his writing, inspired by a name he saw in a dream. His birth name was Grahame Rex, a charismatic Australian adventurer who once traveled the world on a Lambretta in the late 1950s. He’s the guy on the left in the photo. He also was extremely entrepreneurial, establishing the first retail perfumeries in Australia in the 1970's and early 80s, and the largest chain of retail cosmetic outlets to this day, From Paris With Love.
Dad dedicated the latter part of his life to storytelling, passionately crafting narratives that resonated deeply with his values and reflected his keen interest in world affairs. He often wrote in his study, nestled in the picturesque Bellawongarah of NSW's southern highlands. Sadly, Dad passed away last year at the age of 89, just shy of his 90th birthday.
His novels, including The Red Dust and Jacob, are not only gripping tales of suspense but have also proven to be eerily prophetic. Written in 1985 and 2002, these stories anticipated significant global events and challenges we face today, making them essential reading for contemporary audiences.

His ability to weave political, social, and environmental themes into storytelling resonates now more than ever, inviting viewers to reflect on the complexities of our world.
In addition to being an inspiring storyteller, Dad was also instrumental in me becoming a psychologist. His handwritten letter to me in 2011 ultimately shaped my professional journey to empower and uplift others.
